Engage Thriving Readers with Explorer Magazine and Stephanie Harvey

2018 National Geographic Education Fellow and literacy expert Stephanie Harvey collaborated with the Explorer magazine team to improve the classroom resource for students grades K-5/6. As part of the collaboration, the team developed a four-part video series that takes a deep dive into Explorer and its supplementary features.

Stephanie demonstrates how Explorer magazine is a resource that can help inspire students to read more and learn about their world. 

“If you tap into kids’ curiosity, they will want to read a lot and learn more,” says Stephanie in the video.

The Power of Images and Features in Nonfiction Reading 
In the third video, Stephanie discusses using the engaging nonfiction content in Explorer magazine as a means to close the knowledge gap.

Spring subscriptions (4 issues) of Explorer magazine are available until November 15, 2019. Digital-only subscriptions (7 issues) are available until January 15, 2020. More information is available at ExplorerMag.org. Subscriptions for the 2020-2021 school year will be available in February 2020.
