The GeoChallenge is a new, annual themed and standards-based competition designed to engage students in developing creative solutions to real-world problems. Participants in this year’s GeoChallenge developed solutions to the urgent issue of plastic pollution in our waterways. In addition to participating in Semifinals, the 16 regional GeoChallenge teams had the opportunity to share their solutions with National Geographic staff and Explorers during a showcase event this morning.
Experiential learning programs like the National Geographic GeoBee and National Geographic GeoChallenge reward student curiosity about the world and inspire students to engage deeply with real-world content. Learn more about these programs here.
