Two situations:
Mother Earth School is located on the Tryon Community Farm just outside Portland Oregon. Run by Kelly TK, it is a nature immersion school that serves preschool and K at this location. The kids experience free play in nature regardless of weather though they can warm up in the sauna. Kelly, one of the founders, feels that being in the outdoors all the time fosters a deeper connection to the natural cycles of life instead of a more linear view of the world around you. it also builds flexibility and resilience.
Eugene, Ore
Then the intervention program for parents and children who are test subjects at Helen Neville's lab at the Univ of Oregon. The program is run by Scott Klein. The goal is to give families coping skills to lower their stress and mediate the developmental issues commonly experienced by families living in poverty.
