Last Minute Summer Reading!

August is coming to a close, and with it comes the dawning of a new school year.  Hopefully, you spent the summer with your kids going on adventures near or far… or learning virtually by partaking in some of the activities we’ve blogged about!  But, how many of you brought your family into a library recently?

Children who do not pick up a book over the summer  may feel some distress coming back into the classroom in the fall. Reading abilities can be disrupted by the lack of practice. With school starting in a few weeks (or even sooner!) there is still time to ask your children what they’ve read lately, and help them explore through reading.

We have some staff favorites as well as a great Nature and Environment booklist. If they learned about a National Geographic Explorer this summer,  they might like to know what they read! Before the summer is up, they have plenty of time to stop by their local public library and finish a new story before the school bells ring.

If your children did read this summer, get them started on our collection on books, which is a selection of materials all about storytelling, authors, and all things books! Reading about what you love is an easy way to practice, and that’s the great thing about the National Geographic Education website—kids can look up articles, encyclopedia entries, and activities that contain incredible stories about new discoveries, places they may want to travel to one day, and the lives of animals.

Have fun, explore topics with your kids, and you may learn something new, too!

any fascinating article like yours. It’s lovely value enough for me.

In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you
probably did, the internet will probably be much more useful than ever before.
