This Mapping Monday, we’re sharing some user-generated tutorials for our MapMaker Interactive. The MapMaker Interactive is a online mapping tool that allows students (or for that matter, anyone!) to explore the world using map themes, data and tools. Our online map makes it easy for students to visually explore and interact with our interconnected social and physical Earth systems.

Using this powerful mapping tool for the first time might seem daunting even though it’s very user friendly. These tutorials, created by online users of the map, help shed some light on its best and most accessible features.

User Elicia Selvaggio gives a fabulous start-to-finish tutorial on how to use the MapMaker Interactive from the perspective of how she uses the map in class with her students.

User Christian Rogers gives a short and sweet overview of some of the MapMaker Interactive’s more advanced (but still easy to use!) features, like the polygon tool (which allows you to measure area on the map), line tool (which allows you to draw on the map), and how to save your map and come back to it later.

User kbencar25 shares an example of a project she created with a group of fellow teachers. Her map focuses on National Parks in the United States, as well as how it links to content standards.
