If you’re unfamiliar with Google Hangouts, this series is a great first date with them. (Here is an example of a recorded Hangout we ran earlier this year.) What’s great about the Google Hangout platform is that while the discussion is moderated and features special guest speakers, anyone may tune-in and directly and easily ask questions of the speakers and of each other. Hangouts are truly are a more-the-merrier situation—the more participants that tune in, the livelier and more dynamic the conversation! No registration is required—just go to the provided links at the date and time of the Hangout (visit NatGeoEd.org/Kennedy for the complete list)—but if you want to make sure you remember, you can RSVP directly on the Google Hangout page.
Our goal in producing these Hangouts is to showcase experts and resources that educators can utilize to bring a historic event into a modern day classroom. Anyone who has an interest in Kennedy or the cultural and political state of the world in the early 1960s will find these Hangouts of interest, though, and there’s no need to attend all three if you so wish (although, we hope you will!). They’re non-sequitur and meant for your learning and enjoyment as an educator or an individual.
Also in November, the National Geographic Channel will take audiences deeper inside the story than ever before by examining the events that led both John F. Kennedy and Lee Harvey Oswald to Dallas on that fateful day in 1963, and by offering a rare and human look at the people at the center of it all. Make sure you Save-the-Dates for both Killing Kennedy (airing on November 10) and our webinars!
