Coming soon, Traveler Thursday!

Take your classroom on a global journey with Reach the World!

This fall, National Geographic Education will begin a Reach the World (RTW) guest blogger series.

Each Thursday, we will feature a unique story of life abroad told from the perspective of a Reach the World travel correspondent. Reach the World travel correspondents are global mentors, independent explorers, and undergraduate students who have received the Benjamin A. Gilman InternationalScholarship to study abroad. From Mongolia to Brazil and over 30 countries in between, RTW travel correspondents will keep young students engaged by reporting on the unique physical and human geography around them in real-time.

Filled with colorful photos and accompanied by videos on the Reach the World website, these first-person narratives will highlight how ‘where we live affects how we live’ to help teach students global competence while improving their core geographic literacy. RTW traveler articles are embedded with critical thinking questions to make them an easy-to-use classroom resource, especially for teachers looking for non-fiction text that aligns with the Common Core State Standards.

Here is a look at some of this semester’s topics:

How do people get around?

What do people eat?

What do we see in nature?

How are people connected to their environment?

What is daily life like?

What do kids think is cool?

What traditions do people have?

What community need do we see?

Visit the Reach the World website to learn more about this innovative, global education program. Be sure to check out their research-backed GeoGames, funded in part by the National Geographic Society Education Foundation.

Join us for this exciting series and take your class on a virtual global journey this fall.
