Mary Ellen Adlam aka “the Geography Lady,” has always loved maps, knowing about places, how they were established and why, and traveling. This enthusiasm for geography has lead her into teaching this subject, and becoming active in the FGA. Now retired from teaching, she is a member of the FGA Advisory Board and the Geography Action Coordinator for the state.
Her motto has always been “Geography is Everywhere.”

Our Florida kickoff for Geography Awareness Week was held at the Florida Council for the Social Studies meeting at the Marriott Hotel in Orlando, Florida, on Oct. 22-24, 2010. The Florida Geographic Alliance (FGA) gave out Fresh Water bottles to the first 500 registered teachers. An FGA table with water information, activities, and lesson plans was very busy all weekend. One thousand posters, brochures, lesson plans, and maps were distributed. Our website http://fga.freac.fsu.edu/gaw/ is full of great materials. Keep checking back as it will continue to grow.
